Milford, New Hampshire

Community Profile

Milford, New Hampshire

Milford, New Hampshire is a cultural hub with a small town look and feel. With a population of just under 15,000 residents, it is perfectly situated at the interesection of Routes 101 and 101A, and is home to numerous businesses and manufacting companies.

Milford separated from neighboring Amherst in 1794. Like most towns named Milford in the United States, its name comes from the fact that it grew around a mill built on a ford, in this case on the Souhegan River.

With a thriving economy, Milford has a nice mix of upper income, as well as very affordable housing.  Located only 25 minutes from Manchester and 15 minutes from Nashua, as well as under one hour to Boston, the seacoast and the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, Milford is the perfect location for commuters.

The ultra charming Milford Oval surrounding Union Square is the site of many small, local shops and restaurants. With the Pillsbury Bandstand as its centerpiece, and the Souhegan River as backdrop, it oozes stereotypical New England charm.

Union Square is the heart of Mliford’s downtown area and is host to many community activities, parades and events throughout the year.

Milford is a very active community and places a very high value on education, with over 75 percent of Milford High School graduating to pursue higher education.
